if anyone is buying apistos from overseas can help please help me keep a look out for the female of this variant?
Currently I have a Apistogramma sp 'haway' male. Just bought a female, but it jump out and killed itself when i was busy rescaping the tank. I didnt even notice it was gone, thought it went to hide somewhere.
Anyway, can anyone help me out with this Apistogramma sp. 'Haway' Rio Tigre? When I went Biotope Aquarium to get the last female, the owner told me that it will take months for the same variant to come by.
Was wondering if it was an Apistogramma bitaeniata, then I should be able to pair it up with another female, none haway bit right? If Apistogramma sp. 'haway' is even a type of Apistogramma bitaeniata.
Can anyone please give some advice?

Why not just get the pair which someone is selling in the forum if you have no choice. I dont think seller will like to keep the male since he getting rid of the pair. Or you can hope someone interested on the male.
Will keep a look out for you.
Your fish is definitely a A.bitaeniata and not a "bit".
You can get any other female of the same species and try to pair it up with the current male you have.
But, you can no longer call your offspring as A.bitaeniata "Rio Tigre" as they are matched breed already. And also, the colouration will be different as with mixing of parents.
Don't be too distressed over the lost. We understand how you feel losing the female. It sucks.
i also suffer the lost before.
But now i am back with Apistogramma bitaeniata & Apistogramma aff.juruense / Black chin
Take it easy man. I think its common that almost every apisto hobbyist will encounter sudden loss. Some other cases could be fighting between pair resulting in casualty or bacteria infection.

hey mictok,
i'm not sure about this, but i think c328 has 4 pairs of orange flash up for grabs! and the uncle is willing to sell just one male/female and not just the pair. fyi, hope i'm correct. dark body orange finnage. quite big in size.
hey guys just to update i got another pair of haway from gecko! the male is still off colour but the female is showing some brillant colours! also, my tank seem to be leaking! always got water at the side, i wipe already and its keeps appearing!
Good all the best in breeding. As for the leak, lower the water level and seal with sealant or knead.
